PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY:
The family is descended from Raja Phul Singh Dodia of Girnar, the
thikana was
originally
named Lawa, but the name was changed in 1738. The origin of the estate
is that once, on a pilgrimage to Gujarat, the mother of Maharana Lakha
of Mewar and her party were attacked by dacoits, and Rao Siha Dodiya
came to the aid of the party, he was killed in the skirmish, but two of
his sons, Kalu and Dhawal, took the
royal travellers to safety in the Dodiya residence, then later escorted
them
back to the Mewar border. Maharana Lakha later invited the two sons to
Mewar, and granted them the jagir of Lawa. Estate holders were.....
