his mother tried to poison the Regent, who then

Rani Chongtham Chanu Naha Lukeswari, married (c), Rani
Haobam Chanu, and had issue, eight sons. He died in
May 1886.

SINGH (brother), Raja of Manipur in 1850 for
three months, married and had issue. He died 1871.
- Rajkumar Gokul Singh, he perpetrated a raid in
Manipur in 1866, which failed, he escaped but two
years later he was captured and sentenced for seven
years.

on 22nd September), died 3rd December 1891.

1891/1941, born 15th April 1885 and succeeded 18th
September 1891 (#3), a
great grandson of Raja Nar Singh, K.C.S.I.,
C.B.E.(civil) [cr.1917], married six wives (amongst
others) 1stly, Maharani Dhanamanjuri Devi (the Ngangbi
Maharani), she played a major role in giving modern
education to her children, married 2ndly, HH Maharani
Shyamasakhi Ibemma
Apambi [Chingakham Ningol], married 3rdly, HH
Maharani Priya Sakhi (younger sister of the first
wife), married 4thly, Rani Lilabati (Haobam Ningol)
and had issue, twelve children, five sons and seven
daughters. He died in September 1941.

member of the Manipur State Durbar 1936/1941, 1st
Chief Minister of Democratic Manipur 1947/1949,
served with the Indian Army, Managing Trustee of
Charles Frederik Jeffery Memorial Education Trust, a
great lover of peace and painter in his own right, a
naturalist and environmentalist, with more than 100
papers and articles related to different aspects of
life in Manipur to his credit, Manipur University
recognised and honoured his contribution by
conferring a Doctorate on 14th May 1988. He
died unmarried 29th October 2005.

Shillong, at Tamphasana Girls High School, Imphal,
at St. Mary�s College, Shillong, at Vidyasagar
College, West Bengal and at Tagore�s Viswa Bharati
University in Santiniketan (where she studied Art
and became Manipur's first female graduate);
President and Founder of Leikol, the
organization of women writers in Manipur; in 1976,
she took the first all-Manipuri dance troupe on a
tour of Latin America, North America and Europe; her
performance film Sangai, Dancing Deer of
Manipur won the British Film Institute�s
Outstanding Film of the Year Award in 1984; Member
of the Legislative Assembly (Manipur); awards
include ... National Book Award, India (the Sahitya
Akademi Award 1979), Eminent Senior Writer Award
(2007), Jamini Sunder Guha Gold Medal (1966), Kumari
Barooah Foundation Award for Culture (2002), Padma
Sri (1976) for her contribution to music, drama,
dance, film and literature; she married in 1950, Dr.
L. Nanda Babu Roy, a surgeon, and had issue, two
sons. She died 17th January 2011 in Manipur.

HH Srimati Maharani Tharendra Kishori [Rajkumari Ram
Priya Devi], died 1942, third daughter of the Raja of
Bodo Khimedi, married 2ndly, HH Maharani Ishwari Devi,
daughter of Raja Mohan Bikram Shah of Ramnagar,
married 3rdly, HH Maharani Kamini Devi [Keishampat
Rani], born as Khumallambam Ningol Ibempishak, died
29th December 2013, at the age of 81 years; married
4thly, 1944, Maharani Kamlabati Devi [Sangani
Maharani], a Manipuri dancing girl, and had issue,
five sons and one daughter. He died 9th December
1955 or 26th November 1955.
