Maharaja RANJIT SINGH
Born 13th November 1780 in Gujranwala, Died 27th June 1839 in Lahore. He married 17 wives, ten with the usual rites and ceremonies of orthodox marriage (shadi or phera) marked with #, and seven with the less orthodox of chaddar-dalna or tir-patka, common enough amongst the sikhs. There were also three concubines with the rank of Rani and who became sati.
