PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The ancestor of the family was Thakore Sejakji, founding Thakore of Sejakpur who migrated to Kathiawar, about the year 1260, his second son, Thakore Saheb Sarangji, founded the predecessor state of Arthila and his descendants ruled there for four generations till Raja Mandalik of Junagadh conquered and sacked Arthila and slew Thakore Saheb Dudoji, the then ruling chieftain. The Gohils of Arthila then withdrew to Lathi which they held till the merger of the State in 1948. Lathi ranks as a Fourth Class state in Kathiawar. The Chief maintains a military force of 12 cavalry, 25 infantry and 10 guns (as of 1892). Rulers were....

  • Thakore Saheb Shri SURSINHJI TAKHTSINHJI, Thakore Saheb of Lathi 1878/1900, born 1875, he succeeded to the gadi as a minor on 4th November 1878 (#1), educated at Rajkumar College, Rajkot to 1891; he was a poet and published a number of works, still popular today viz. Kalapi-no-Kekarav, Harirji Gohel, Mala and Mudrika; married 1stly, Thakorani Rajba of Roha (Kutch), married 2ndly, Thakorani Anandiba of Kotda Sangani, and had issue. He died 1900.

  • Thakore Saheb Shri PRATAPSINHJI SURSINHJI, Thakore Saheb of Lathi 1900/1918, born 21st April 1891, succeeded to the gaddi on 10th June 1900, Investiture held on 1st May 1911, he was a man of literary bent and contributed to Gujarati literature under the pseudonym of  Rajhamsa; married and had issue. He died 14th October 1918.
