PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY:
The zamindari was founded on 26th April 1845, when nine
villages (Kolanka, Mungeturu, Veeraraghavapuram, Raipuru,
Chanduru, Vunnapudy, Kaddavaly, Gokivanda and
Jagapatirajapuram) were granted to Sri Raja Venkata Rao
Bahadur Garu, younger son of Sri Raja Niladri Rao Bahadur
Garu, Raja of Pithapuram.
Estate holders were...
- Sri Raja Venkata Rao Bahadur Garu, 1st Raja of
Kolanka 1845/-, he was granted nine villages forming
the Zamindari of Kolanka on 26th April 1845 (#1); married Sri Rani Lakshmi
Narasu Amma Garu, and had issue.
- Sri Raja Venkata Mahipati Dharma Rao (qv)
- Sri Raja Venkata Mahipati Surya Rao (qv)
- Sri Raja Venkata Mahipati Dharma Rao, 2nd Raja of
Kolanka -/1881; he also bought the Paddapuram and
Veiravarm estates increasing the revenue of Kolanka to
60,000Rs, married Sri Rani Subbayyamma Garu. He died sp in 1881.
- Sri Raja Venkata Mahipati Surya Rao, 3rd Raja of
Kolanka 1881/1887; married 1stly, Sri Rani Chellayamma
Garu (qv), married 2ndly, Rani Ramaiamma Garu, and had
adoptive issue. He died sp on 22nd January
1887.
- (A) Raja Rao
Pradyuna Krishna Mahipathi Surya Rao Bahadur Garu,
Raja of Kolanka, born as the youngest son of the
29th Raja of Venkatagiri, he was adopted by
Rani Ramaiamma Garu and succeeded by adoption to
the zamindari of Kolanka; married and had issue,
one son.
- Raja Rao Govinda
Krishna Mahipathi Surya Rao Bahadur Garu, Raja of
Kolanka, born 1945, married and had issue, one
daughter. He died spm in 1998.
- Sri Rani Chellayamma Garu, 4th Rani of Kolanka
1887/-, she increased the estate's revenue to
90,000Rs; married (as his first wife), Sri Raja
Venkata Mahipati Surya Rao, 3rd Raja of Kolanka.
