HISTORY: Originally, the predecessor state was the Kingdom of
the Silavamsis,
which
lost its independence in 1571, becoming tributary to the Qutbshahi
Sultans
of Golconda. The Estate of Jeypore was taken over by
the Government of Orissa (#1). Rulers

Raja of Nandapur 1443/1476, founder
of Jeypore/Jeypur
about 1450, descendant of Raja Kanaka Sena, King of Jammu, said to have
married a daughter of the last
Silavansi ruler, Sri Raja Pratap Ganga Raju, and
had
issue. He died 1476.

successful in driving out the French from Malkangiri area and the
Marathas from the Umerkote belt; married and had issue.

settlement, he was granted the estates of Nowrangpur (now Nabarangpur)
and Gudari, by his brother, Sri Maharaja Ramchandra Deo II; married and

- Sri Kumar Narasingh Deo, through a permanent
settlement, he was granted the estates of Nowrangpur (now Nabarangpur)
and Gudari, by his brother, Sri Maharaja Ramchandra Deo II; married and
had issue. He died 1832.
- Sri Kumar Chaitanya Deo, Zamindar of Gudari 1832/1876,
he was a benevolent zamindar, having started
forests and planted groves, diug wells and tanks and built temples in
many
parts of the estate; married 1stly, Rani (name unknown) Devi, married 2ndly,
Rani Pappayama Devi, she died sp
in 1901, Married 3rdly, Rani Sulochna Pattamahadei, she died sp 28th March 1911. He died sp
1876, after which the estate was reclaimed by the Maharaja of Jeypore
in 1896, a court case followed and in a compromse in 1904, the estates
of Nowrangpur and Gudari were granted to the surviving Rani for her
life, after which it was to revert to the Maharaja of Jeypore.

privately, confirmed in the
succession
on 27th November 1895, granted the title of Maharaja for personal
use in 1896; the Maharaja contributed 40% of the cost of a bridge over
the Indravati River in 1917 which provided a direct link with the rest
of the Zamindari of Jeypore and
beyond; married 1893, a Princess of Chhota-Nagpur, and had issue.

Jeypore 1931/1951, born 1869 in Sri
Mukhalingam,
son of Sri Raja Krishna Chandra Deo; pro-Chancellor
of both Andhra (1937/1951) and Utkal Universities, donating annually,
money
towards the recurring expenses of the AU College of Science and
Technology,
as a result, it was renamed the Jeypore Vikrama Deo College of Science
and Technology in his honour; married and had issue. He died spm
15th April 1951.

June 1961 in Udaipur, B.A. (Eng. Hons.), M.L. (International Law), Past
President of Rotary Club, Visakhapatnam and Life member of INTACH,
daughter of Maharaj Mandhata Singhji of Deogarh,
second son of Rao
Saheb Rawat Sangram Singhji of Deogarh, and his wife, Rani Govind
Kumari, daughter of Thakur Sahib Sawant Singhji of Baneria, Rajasthan,
and had issue, one daughter. He died 27th November 2006.
