Predecessors and Short History: The
Taluka
(Fifth
Class State) is an offshoot of the Rajkot State. Modji,
the second son of Thakore Saheb Mehramanji II of Rajkot,
received
in
appanage Gavridad and five other villages. The Taluka
enjoys
jurisdiction to the following extent; Criminal : Two years rigorous
imprisonment
and fines upto 2,000Rs, Civil : To the extent of 5,000Rs. The State
follows
the rule of Primogeniture in regard to succession. The Talukdar
maintains a military force of 11 cavalry, 19 infantry, and 2 guns (in
