Raja of Chenani, he succeeded to the gaddi of Chenani
in around 1760; Ahmad Shah Durrani then ruled the Punjab, which had
been ceded to him by the Emperor of Delhi in 1752, Sukh Jewan was his
Governor of Kashmir and being in revolt a force was sent against him by
Ahmad Shah Durrani in about 1764, with a contingent from Raja Ranjit
Dev of Jammu and Raja Shamsher
Chand of Chaneni being called upon to accompany the force with his
contingent, the expedition was successful and Sukh Jewan was defeated
and
captured and as a reward for the Rajas assistance a Jagir was granted
to him in Kashmir
which remained in the possession of the State till the
conquest of the valley by the Sikhs in 1819; married and had issue,
four sons. He was killed by the Raja of Nurpur.

and had represented the Jammu and Kashmir polo team in many tournaments
with HH Maharaja Hari Singh; married Kunwarani Kamla Kumari, daughter
of Raja Basant Singh, Raja of
Basantpur state in Himachal Pradesh (see Baghal),
and had issue, one son and one
daughter.
 Kunwar Balbhadra
Chandji, educated at Presentation
Convent College, Srinagar and Burnhall Cambridge School, Srinagar and
then at the College of Engineering, Pune, he joined the Public Works
Department in 1957, and worked for the State Government of Jammu and
Kashmir in various capacities until he retired in 1991 as Jt. Dev.
Commissioner (Works); his services were recognized by the State
Government with a Medal and a certificate of Merit; he was of a
religious and spiritual mind and painstakingly reconstructed the temple
of the family deity, Mata Bhagwatiji, after the temple was gutted in a
fire at Chenani Palace; married Kunwarani Prabha
Kumari of Bakhatgarh State in Madhya Pradesh, and had issue, two sons
and one daughter.
He died 27th August 2011.

daughter.

educated at Jasudben M.L. School in Mumbai and currently (2011)
studying Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway,
University of London.
